Health & Safety
EROAD will help you build a safety-focused culture in your organisation.
We provide you and your business with the driver-friendly tools they need to help them improve their driving behaviour and performance, and you with the analytical reports you need to meet your compliance obligations, from safer driving, to safer vehicles.
Creating a healthy and safe work environment is not just a compulsory component of workplace law; it’s also the right thing to do as an employer. Making sure your drivers, your vehicles, and our roads are all as safe as possible is an outcome we can all aspire to, and be proud of.
With the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Chain of Responsibility legislation now both in place, it’s essential to have the right organisational culture and the right systems and processes to ensure compliance. Everybody in the supply chain must be aware of, and living up to, their legal obligations.
Driver behaviour, vehicle maintenance, and managing fatigue risk are just some of the key areas where EROAD can help you to proactively manage your legal compliance, and create safer drivers, safer vehicles and safer roads.
Five ways EROAD’s telematics can help improve your driver safety
No business wants a to create a paperwork nightmare when attempting to comply with its legal obligations. What you need, are deliverables, and that’s what EROAD’s best-in-class telematics solutions will provide. EROAD’s tools deliver proven, measurable and significant improvements to your safe driving programme, and support positive behavioural change by empowering drivers to adjust their driving habits using real time feedback and gamifying their performance allowing them to compete with their colleagues to be the best.
Here’s five critical ways EROAD can help you deliver the outcome you’re after.
1. An easy-to-use driver login for clear driver identification.
The driver’s name is clearly identifiable on the in-vehicle device’s log-in screen and secured via a 4-digit PIN. It enables personalised reporting via a driver portal and removes the need to issue and keep track of key fobs and cards. It ensures the driving performance of all drivers, including temp and contract drivers, are tracked – a key to success.
2. Leaderboard brings out the best in your drivers.
One of our customers said of his drivers: “It turns out they’re a competitive bunch.” You’ve probably noticed the same thing about yours. We recently studied the impact using EROAD’s benchmarked driver behaviour report ‘Leaderboard’ delivers. We found that customers who regularly use it have an average driver performance rating of four stars, compared with three stars for customers who didn’t.
3. Advanced in-vehicle coaching gets results.
Tools such as EROAD’s in-vehicle Drive Buddy support drivers with real-time speed read-outs, speed limits, and visible and audible notifications for over speeding, harsh braking, excessive cornering speed and sharp acceleration. This means they can adjust their driving style to make safer, better decisions learning when it really matters. When they’re driving.
4. Personalised driver feedback for better coaching.
Our driver-specific analytics can save your trainers days of combing through a multitude of reports for each driver’s assessment, and give them the critical information they need to guide improvement. Your trainer or fleet manager can generate an instant, visually appealing one-page summary using EROAD Driver Insight, for quick or ongoing feedback.
5. Get visibility into your subcontractor’s driver behaviour.
You can’t manage what you can’t see. Every party in the supply chain has a primary duty to ensure the safety of their transport activities and how it impacts on others, which means anyone who carries out work in any capacity including contractors, subcontractors, and their employees. EROAD’s analytics provide visibility into subcontractor driving behaviour, so you can ensure they meet the same high standards you expect from your own drivers.
Change your driver behaviour for the better
There’s far more to creating a safer driving culture than just monitoring driver behaviour. You need to be able to use EROAD’s data and insights to implement effective coaching, and improve their awareness and skills.
EROAD’s telematics solution bridges the gap between post-event management reporting, and the power of in-cab, realtime feedback to postively influence driver behaviour.
EROAD’s revolutionary in-vehicle Ehubo2 interface captures essential information on driver behaviour, and then provides realtime coaching feedback to the driver so they can correct any issues immediately. Critically, it also transmits and records the data to management for viewing on Depot, EROAD’s desktop fleet management and reporting portal, giving you visibility into how your drivers are performing on the open road.
Ehubo2 is a proven, highly effective platform for delivering innovative driver and vehicle safety performance. It’s especially effective because it enables ongoing learning realtime.
Running multiple applications for drivers on the one platform will revolutionise safety compliance for your business.
Coach your drivers when it matters most – when they’re driving. EROAD lets you monitor live vehicle and driver behaviour, and deliver coaching and scoring to a driver directly in-cab. Unlock your drivers’ competitive instincts with Leaderboard which shows how they compare against their organisations peers and the entire Australasian EROAD community of drivers. Leaderboard tracks how your drivers perform over time, with scores based on key driver metrics. By knowing how their driving compares with others, we find drivers are motivated to perform better. Together, Ehubo2 and EROAD Depot deliver a single, consistent platform, that drives success.
Enjoy useful, personalised feedback with Driver Insight. EROAD’s Driver Insight report provides a summary of smart, personalised feedback for your drivers, highlighting specific areas for improvement, empowering them and making it easy to adopt safe driving habits.
EROAD’s powerful Virtual Speed Camera tool helps you pinpoint areas of elevated risk on your delivery routes and set safe operating speeds for your fleet. You can create geofences around critical high-risk areas such as customer sites, loading zones, and schools, and set specific safer speed limits for your drivers to observe.
EROAD’s Over-Speed Dashboard provides a record and analysis of a driver’s speeding profile. It can also present an overview of the speeding behaviour across your fleet, including trends, and enables you to focus on individual speeding events in order to prevent them happening in future.
With Max Speed Alert, you can take swift action to address excessive speeding, protecting your business, your drivers, and the public. Max Speed Alert provides in-cab speeding notifications so your drivers can meet their health and safety obligations, avoid the costly impact of on-road incidents, and support your driver training and incentive programmes.
Improve fatigue management with EROAD’s Trip Investigator. This tool shows you exactly where your vehicles have travelled the previous day or week and enables you to identify excessively long trips and any after-hours travel.
Advanced in-cab driver behaviour coaching
EROAD lets you monitor your vehicle and driver behaviour and deliver coaching and scoring to a driver directly in-cab – live.
Support your drivers with visual, easy-to-understand messages. Drive Buddy lets you provide in-cab feedback and alerts to help drivers adapt, develop and maintain safe driving habits.
Keep your drivers off their mobile phones. Stay in touch with EROAD’s secure two-way messaging service. Broadcast a message to the entire fleet or just to specific vehicles, to relay critical messaging or improve productivity, safety and job management.
We make it easier for you to monitor your staff’s safety when they’re driving. A visual and audible alert reminds the driver to buckle up and notifies the fleet manager of issues.
Posted Speed. Provide drivers with the road network speed data on highways and main metro routes. The speed is displayed in-cab, so they can make better driving decisions.
Get new insights with advanced driver analytics from Leaderboard
EROAD’s Leaderboard lets you compare how good your drivers are not only within your business, but also with all other drivers utilising the EROAD technology. This helps to drive a culture of accountability and safety and facilitates rewarding drivers for good or improved performance.
Being able to show your drivers how they compare with others is an effective way of demonstrating what they need to do to improve their safety performance on the road.
You can analyse the data behind EROAD’s Leaderboard and Driver Insight Report to help coach drivers towards better driving and safer behaviours.
Want to reduce speeding? Driver accountability reduces speeding by at least 50%
Reducing speeding reduces on-road risk and most organisational safe driving programmes include a focus on driving to the posted speed limit. In a recent EROAD study* we found that driver accountability reduces speeding by at least 50%
Managing speed reduces on-road risk. That’s why many organisational safe driving programmes include a focus on keeping below the posted speed limit and driving to the conditions.
Traditional telematics enables companies to track speeds but only against the maximum open road speed limit. Advances in technology mean EROAD has been able to take that further, tracking against all posted speed limits, and making the detailed driving event data available online to fleet managers via an online portal.
In a recent EROAD study* we found that drivers accepting accountability reduced speeding by at least 50%.
To change driver behaviour, it’s important to communicate the reasons why speed is being monitored, with a focus on rewarding safe driving and supporting training.
The Ehubo2 enables you to identify vehicle activity, and which driver was driving the vehicle at the time via an onscreen driver login. You can add all your drivers into your system, including temporary drivers, without managing cards or key fobs. The identification of drivers allows you to incorporate improved driving behaviour measures into appraisals and reward programmes.
The combination of the driver’s name clearly displayed on the in-vehicle unit, and the attribution of driving events back to the driver, rather than the vehicle, allows the driver to take ownership of the driving standard and actively respond by improving their driving performance.
Improve vehicle safety with EROAD Inspect, service and maintenance applications
A key element in keeping your high usage vehicles safely on the road is employees undertaking a daily safety check. EROAD Inspect facilitates a visual inspection before the vehicle leaves the yard, depot, or carpark, and allows defects to be reported instantly for effective management, advice and support.
EROAD Inspect lets you track vehicle defects easily by capturing them during inspections and displaying them on the Defect Board, ready for you to take remedial action. Drivers can carry out a vehicle inspection using either our App on a mobile device, or the in-vehicle Ehubo2 device, and record the inspection and actions required.
This flexibility makes it easier than ever to comply with safety inspection requirements, and allows for either drivers, mechanics, or supervisors to carry out safety inspections. EROAD Inspect can be used as a stand-alone application, meaning there is no need to commit to a full telematics solution. You can start improving driver and vehicle safety right now.
Issues that drivers report as failed the inspection or are in need of attention feed straight into the defect management portal so you can manage and monitor their repair. The Inspect portal is a fully auditable tool to help identify when faults were reported, when they were booked in for repair, and when the repair was completed.
Keep track of subcontractor vehicles and drivers
Visibility of your partner and subcontractor fleets is essential in order to manage your obligations under the Chain of Responsibility. The EROAD ecosystem connects you and your drivers with your customers, partners, and contractors also using EROAD, increasing your ability to deliver outstanding service and value.
EROAD Share is unique to the EROAD platform and gives you the visibility on a partner or subcontractor’s Leaderboard driving performance – the same as you have into your own. This means you can continue to deliver high-quality service to your customers, while ensuring the safety of all drivers working for you.
If your vehicle is off the road and you require a subcontractor’s or rental asset, at the click of a button they can share data directly from the non-fleet vehicle back to you.
- EROAD Share allows you to share (or receive) visibility of location, Leaderboard driver behaviour reports, Driver Insight reports, and Driver Safety reports
- Share visibility when working on a joint venture, or a road maintenance contract
- Require hire vehicles equipped with EROAD to be shared with you
- Require subcontractors or your suppliers equipped with EROAD to share visibility with you
Manage driver fatigue more effectively for reduced incident rates
Managing driver fatigue means recognising when fatigue risk events may be happening, and helping to mitigate this risk, as well as identifying fatigue triggers before they occur and help ensure drivers are fit to drive before they even leave the depot.
Life-saving Driver Fatigue cameras.
For fatigue management on high-risk vehicles, EROAD has an integration partnership with Seeing Machines. The solution provides in-cab driver monitoring and feedback to detect and manage driver fatigue in the vehicle, preventing potentially fatal incidents before they happen.
Seeing Machines is a leader in computer vision technologies which can see, understand and assist drivers. Using AI technology to observe a driver’s or operator’s attention to their task, they can assess the risk of fatigue reliably, unobtrusively, and in realtime allowing seamless intervention when necessary.
How does it work?
- Drowsiness and distraction are detected using an in-cab sensor that measures eye-lid closure and head movement
- When the system detects prolonged eye closure or head movement (away from the road ahead), an audible alert and seat vibration is activated to draw the driver’s attention back to the task of driving
- Videos are sent through to Seeing Machines 24/7 monitoring centre and the event is classified in realtime
- Fatigue events are uploaded to EROAD Depot via the partner gateway
